“Isoform-specific antibody unlocks new treatment pathway”, published in MedNous.
I have been working as a freelance writer with 59 North Communications, a life science communications agency, since 2023. In this role, I support several client accounts, producing in-depth scientific articles for expert audiences, with work published in outlets such as MedNous and Drug Discovery World.
This particular article was developed for IsomAb, a biotechnology company developing treatments for ischaemic diseases. The aim was to highlight their lead antibody candidate for peripheral arterial disease by telling the story behind its discovery and underlying mechanism, for an audience of biotech and pharma professionals and clinicians.
To write this article, I was provided with several of IsomAb’s scientific studies demonstrating the success of their antibody. I analysed complex data and methodologies, then translated the key findings into clear, engaging content.
“A new opioid drug for chronic pain is in development”, published in MedNous.
This is another article I developed for 59 North Communications, on behalf of their client PharmNovo, a pharmaceutical company developing a novel opioid-based treatment for chronic pain.
This is a thought leadership piece exploring the significant unmet need in chronic pain management, the challenges involved in developing new pain therapies, and how PharmNovo’s new drug offers a potential solution.
To develop the article, I interviewed the lead scientist and reviewed a range of scientific papers provided by the client. This involved understanding complex pharmacological concepts and turning these into a powerful story.
Measuring versus reading - transforming the field of quantitative pathology
I started my science writing career in 2018 as an Editorial Assistant at SelectScience, a science communication company that helps accelerate research by sharing the latest technologies with scientists. After going freelance, I continued working with them on a regular basis, writing articles across a range of topics, from oncology and biotechnology to mass spectrometry and lab automation.
These articles are written for a highly scientific audience and are designed to inform, educate, and inspire. Each piece involves translating in-depth interviews with scientific experts and scientific studies into a clear, engaging narrative.
In this interview feature with Dr David Rimm of Yale School of Medicine, I explain his pioneering work in quantitative pathology.

“Isoform-specific antibody unlocks new treatment pathway”, published in MedNous.
One of the client accounts I work on is IsomAb, a biotechnology company developing treatments for ischaemic diseases. The aim of this article was to highlight their lead antibody candidate for peripheral arterial disease by telling the story of their unique discovery—a previously unrecognised protein that plays a key role in regulating blood vessel growth in ischaemic conditions.
To write this article, I was provided with several of IsomAb’s scientific studies demonstrating the success of their antibody. I analysed complex data and methodologies, then translated the key findings into clear, engaging content.
