As a freelance contributor to BBC Science Focus, I’m typically approached with a topic, angle, or new piece of research to explore, and it’s up to me to shape the structure and narrative. These pieces are a great example of my ability to translate complex scientific information into clear, engaging and entertaining content for a general audience. Each article is thoroughly researched using reliable scientific sources, and when appropriate, I interview researchers to add expert insight and strengthen the article’s credibility and depth.
Below are some examples of my work, and you can view my full portfolio on the BBC Science Focus website.

This is a six-page special feature I wrote on hormones, designed to be an engaging and accessible overview of everything readers need to know. The article explores what hormones are, how they affect the body, what happens when they're out of balance, and practical tips for maintaining hormonal health. It required thorough research to ensure scientific accuracy, as well as a creative approach to structure and storytelling to keep the content both informative and entertaining.
This short news piece reports on early trials of a promising non-hormonal male contraceptive pill. I researched the study in detail and translated the key scientific findings into clear, concise language, highlighting its potential impact while maintaining accuracy and balance.
This feature explores whether everyday kitchen items—like non-stick pans, plastic containers, and chopping boards—could be leaching harmful chemicals into our food. All claims are backed by credible scientific studies, and I ensure to highlight the current evidence while avoiding unnecessary alarmism. The goal was to inform readers and help them make more conscious choices in their daily routines.
